Best Camping Sites Are Free!

Best Camping Sites Are Free!

I have learned that the best campsites are the free ones, including the ones managed by National Forests. If you like secluded camping and do not mind taking baths, else where or not at all then the National Forests would be a great experience. I really depend on what kind of camping trip experience you are looking for. Most of the time I have found that the more primitive the campgrounds are, the sightseeing is better. It is a trade off, the convenient over the true outdoor experience. I prefer to go o where the best natural scenery exists, and where there is fishing and possibly a swimming hole! That is not asking too much is it. No not really, believe me these places do exist, most of the time right in our own state. Public land can be more secluded then you might think. Who owns public land? Are you a member of the public? Then YOU do! Take advantage of camping on public land, it has been set aside for you through your tax dollars. Learn to identify and watch for small road signs that indicate you are entering public lands. Never drive by a National Forest office, BLM office, or area Visitor Center without stopping. While there, ask free maps of the area, points of interest, directions, do not be afraid to ask them personally where they like to camp. I know some whom because they think they know all the spots have missed some really beautiful and secluded sites. There are resources click here. Be willing to drive a few miles on dirt roads. If you're going into "uncharted areas" or plan on camping where there is no established camping spot, be sure that the terrain is such that you can pitch your tent without rolling down a hillside or sleeping on the rocks all night.
